Queen Medb is the formidable ruler of Connacht and one of the central figures of the Ulster Cycle.
She is best known through the Táin Bó Cúailnge — the Cattle Raid of Cooley. Seeking possession of the great Brown Bull of Cooley, Medb leads the armies of Connacht and their allies into Ulster.
Their invasion brings them into conflict with Cú Chulainn, who stands against Medb's forces while the warriors of Ulster are unable to fight.
Ambitious, determined and politically powerful, Medb is one of the most distinctive rulers in Irish heroic literature.
