The Fir Bolg are one of the peoples described in medieval Irish accounts of the legendary settlement of Ireland.
In the Lebor Gabála Érenn tradition they rule Ireland before the arrival of the Tuatha Dé Danann.
Conflict between the two peoples culminates in the First Battle of Mag Tuired, after which the Tuatha Dé Danann gain control of Ireland.

Later tradition has associated the great stone fort of Dún Aonghasa with the Fir Bolg and with Aonghus, a figure connected to their legendary past. Dún Aonghasa is a genuine prehistoric archaeological monument, but its connection with the Fir Bolg belongs to later tradition rather than established archaeological history.
